The Global Act of Silence' Angels of Memory' is a significant annual event held on February 20. It serves as a solemn tribute to the deceased Maidan activists, particularly the 48 protesters who lost their lives on February 20, 2014, in the heart of Kyiv. These individuals, along with 54 other killed and fatally injured activists of the Revolution of Dignity, as well as five Maidan activists who died in the spring of 2014, are collectively known as the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The 'Angels of Memory' action is a global initiative that aims to honour their memory and the sacrifices they made for the freedom and dignity of the Ukrainian people.
Today, the students of Ostroh Academy joined the action with a deep emotional connection to the memory of the deceased Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. They took part in the symbolic event, placing paper angels as a sign of respect and sorrow, a poignant tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom and dignity of the Ukrainian people.
"During these difficult times, filled with anxiety and pain, we should remember what we are fighting for and what values we have. The Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred is a great reminder that we can protect our country only by uniting with each other. We appreciate and remember everyone who gave their lives for Ukraine!"
"A nation is defined by its culture, traditions, spirituality, values, history, and memory. We have dates on the calendar, the memories of which fill our hearts with pain. And the Maidan of 2014 is such a page in history. We went to local squares daily, worried about our loved ones in the barricades, and cried while watching the events in Kyiv. In those days, everyone was moved by Plyne Kacha song, which became our nation's requiem. We cannot forget this. And we must do everything we can to ensure that the memory of the Maidan Heroes' feat lives on forever so that our children and their children's children honour it. The global silence act "Angels of Memory" is a tribute to the feat of the Heroes of the first victory in the ongoing battle. It is held on many continents to honour the participants of the Revolution of Dignity. We owe them an eternal debt of gratitude to remember them, to live up to their values, and to defend freedom,"
"Since the events on Maidan on February 20, 107 heroes who fought for democracy in Ukraine have died. People need to remember it because memory is a guarantee of justice. The evil that is not punished always returns. Glory to Ukraine!"
