The Ukrainian-Polish Leadership Course Started at Ostroh Academy

May 26, 2024

On May 24-26, classes of the first training session of the Leadership Course for public organisations held by the Anna Valentynovych Center in Rivne proceeded in Ostroh.

"I am glad that you are joining such initiatives as the Leadership Course," Assistant Rector for International Cooperation and Fundraising of the National University of Ostroh Academy, Eduard Balashov, addressed the participants of the training, "because it shows your active civil position, the opportunity of development of your public organisations. I am pleased to welcome you to Ostroh Academy, where you will be able to get the necessary knowledge."

A team of experienced trainers from Poland - Mahda Lenart-Zalevska and Lukash Tsurylo, together with the associate professor of the Department of Journalism and PR Management of the NaUOA Serhii Shturkhetskyi, prepared an intense program for training public leaders, which includes, in particular, project management and fundraising, building communication strategies and developing policies, the use of artificial intelligence and social networks in public activities. The training sessions will continue throughout the summer in the communities of the Rivne region. In the fall, the participants of the Leadership Course will meet again at Ostroh Academy for final classes.

"We are proud of the cooperation with Ostroh Academy, which began last year with the Research-to-Practice Conference "Solidarity of Nations" dedicated to Anna Valentynovych, - said the trainer of the Leaders' Course, Lukash Tsurylo (Republic of Poland). - I am confident that our new educational project will also become traditional and contribute to the development of civil society in Ukraine and establish new and strengthen existing ties between our countries.

Of course, the harsh realities of today influenced the Leaders' Course as well; the air alarm sounded more than once. Thanks to the equipped shelters of Ostroh Academy, the classes were not interrupted for a minute - because the leaders of public organisations are highly motivated to improve their skills in working with socially significant projects in their communities.

"There were many of us; we are all different in age, positions, statuses, areas of activity and a variety of preferences," said course participant Oksana Romanovych, "but under the leadership of powerful coaches from Ukraine and Poland, we managed to become a team."

The project is co-financed from the state budget within the "Polish Cooperation for Development" framework of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
