OA Students Met the Representatives of the Western Territorial Department of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service

On May 22, the National University of Ostroh Academy hosted a meeting of the 3rd-year Law students with representatives of the Western Territorial Department of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (NACS).

The Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching, Doctor of Science (Philosophy), Professor Dmytro Shevchuk, addressed attendees with a welcoming speech:

"Ostroh Academy is renewing its ideas and concepts related to public service. We are organising this meeting because some of you may be interested in the prospects of your first job in the public service. We also announce a new master's programme to expand your knowledge and competencies. We hope this programme will be interesting and useful for you, opening new horizons for professional development."

The event was held to acquaint student youth with modern aspects of civil service work, particularly with the procedure for passing the competition for vacancies, social guarantees, and advantages and opportunities for civil servants' professional and career growth.

At the beginning of the meeting, the lecturers of the NaUOA, Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration, Associate Professor of the Department of National Security and Political Science, Vitalii Lebediuk, and Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration, Senior Lecturer Vitalii Bondar, presented the students with the new educational programme, 281 "Public Management and Administration". They talked about the purpose of this EPP, its features, components and advantages for future specialists. Also, they invited students to enrol in this promising programme, which opens vast opportunities for professional and career growth.

"Today we met with you to motivate, to demonstrate to you the issue of awareness, how the public service works, what public service is, how you can get into it, and most importantly, how you can be useful to it in the conditions of martial law,"

Olha Smalii, the Head of the Western Territorial Department of the NACS, noted.

During the event, Olha Smalii told the students that the credentials of the Western Territorial and other regional offices of the NACS extend to the territories of Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, and Rivne Oblasts.

She also turned her attention to the main tasks of the Western Territorial Department. Among them, in particular, are the implementation of state policy in the field of public service and personnel management in the relevant territory, the submission of proposals for the formation of state policy in the field of public service and personnel management to NACS, as well as service in local self-government bodies and the implementation of functional state management service in the relevant territory.

Ms Olha also read a lecture dedicated to the advantages of the profession of public servants and opportunities for young people to find themselves in public service. 

During the interactive part of the event, a practical intensive took place, where students had the opportunity to present their vision of future managers. The participants, united in teams, considered ways to overcome prejudices about public service.
