Ostroh Academy Discussed the Issues and Priorities of the Development of Education and Science in National Security

On May 17, the VI International Research-to-Practice Conference "Education and Science in the Field of National Security: Problems and Development Priorities" was held at the National University of Ostroh Academy within the framework of the European Union project "Erasmus+ WARN - Academic Countermeasures to Hybrid Threats (610133-EPP-1-2019-1-FI-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP)."
The organisers of the conference are the University of Beira Interior (Portugal), John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland), the National University of Ostroh Academy, state scientific institution "Institute of Information, Security and Law of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine", The Bohdan Khmelnytskyi National Academy of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, Yevhenii Bereznyak Military Academy, and Department of "National Security" of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine.
The Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Dmytro Shevchuk, gave an introductory speech:
"Ukraine faced serious challenges related to national security. The war has been going on for more than ten years, and every day we see heavy combat clashes. It is extremely important to talk about these problems from a professional point of view, which is what today's conference is dedicated to. I sincerely thank the Department of National Security and Political Science of Ostroh Academy, our partners and everyone who joined the organisation. The national security issue is significant for Ukraine, and we must now first of all defeat our enemy, gain victory and lay a solid foundation for national security."
The event was moderated by the head of the Department of National Security and Political Science of the NaUOA, Doctor of Science (Law), professor Mykola Romanov.
The Head of the Scientific Laboratory of the Law, National and International Security of the State scientific institution "Institute of Information, Security and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", Doctor of Science (Law), associate professor Ivan Doronin noted:
"Even during the first conference, its focus on interdisciplinary character was noticeable. This is very important, because in the conditions of the information society, it is interdisciplinary that makes it possible to master the problems inherent in national security faster and more thoroughly."
The conference was attended by doctors and candidates of sciences, doctoral students, postgraduate students, master's students, representatives of public organisations (within the problem scope of the conference).
During the event, the public administration of Ukraine's national security management, problems of national security in the conditions of martial law, information war; components of national security, modern methods of teaching national security in institutions of higher education; priority strategies of information policy in the context of national interests of Ukraine; organisation of countermeasures against threats to national security, etc. were discussed.
Polina Poliakova, a 1st-year student of the EPP “National Security”, shared her impressions of participating in the conference:
"As a future employee in the field of national security, it was beneficial for me to listen to the opinions of specialists. The participants of the conference raised various but, at the same time, urgent issues related to the sphere of national security of our country. I am glad that I could attend this event and will definitely participate in similar events in the future."
