March 27, 2019
On March 27 Volodymyr Zhemchugov, Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy, Hero of Ukraine, presented the students the documentary film "The Kremlin`s Prisoners", which tells about 64 Ukrainian political prisoners, at the National University of Ostroh Academy.
"In 2013, you were still quite young and apparently did not think about what is happening in the country, but you should know the truth, why and how this happened. The hybrid war, which Russia began against Ukraine, causes a lot of confusion not only young people, but also among the older generation. Therefore, the film "The Kremlin`s Prisoners" provides answers to certain questions related to this war, "said Vladimir Zhemchugov.
Also, during communication with students, Volodymyr Zhemchugov shared his memories from the war, because from May 2014 he was an organizer and an active participant in the resistance movement against the occupation in the Luhansk region. From September 29, 2015 to September 17, 2016 was in the captivity of the militants of the so-called "LPR (Luhansk People`s Republic)". He was taken prisoner with a severe wound as a result of an explosion on a stretch. Today, Volodymyr Zhemchugov is an active participant in government and volunteer events in Ukraine and abroad, conducting military-patriotic lectures and talks with young people and service members.
Volodymyr Zhemchugov spoke with students in the format of "open mic", where everyone had the opportunity to ask questions about the reaction to the film of the international human rights community, military events, the fate of Ukrainian political prisoners, etc.
At the end of the meeting, students received movie discs and other information materials about military events in Ukraine.
