The All-Ukrainian Marathon of Continuous Reading of Poetry started in Ostroh Academy

On June 7, the All-Ukrainian Marathon of Continuous Reading of Poetry was started in order to establish a record of Ukraine at the National University of Ostroh Academy.
The idea of organizing the event was proposed by the staff of the Ostroh Academy with the support of the Student Board under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
The participants of the marathon will continuously read both poetry of Ukrainian authors and works of world classics translated into Ukrainian for seven days in a row online. The event is in the form of relay race. Further reading of poetry will be continued by the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National Kyiv University, Poltava National Technical University, Donetsk State University of Management, Lviv National Agrarian University, and Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky Hryhoriy Skovoroda State Pedagogical University.
«On April 27, 2017, the European Parliament decided to celebrate 2018 as the Year of Cultural Heritage in Europe. Therefore, the purpose of our action is to popularize the Ukrainian language and poetic heritage as a part of the European cultural heritage and to form the respect for the Ukrainian language in the youth. » - said in a welcoming speech vice-rector of the National University of Ostroh Academy Ruslana Kalamazh.
Students and teachers started a marathon with reading poems written by Gerasym Smotrytskyi, the first rector of the Ostroh Academy, and continued with the works of contemporary writers who write about Ostrog town and the Academy.
«The National University of Ostroh Academy today executes a noble mission - the popularization of Ukrainian poetry. " The Ukrainian book of records " the national project is proud that the Ostroh Academy is setting patriotic records for the eighth time. I wish lecturers and students team the inspiration for the further accomplishment of patriotic doings» - noted the representative of the Ukrainian book of records Olexandr Shusteruk.
