Week of the Faculty of Humanities: Four Freedoms, Master Classes and Art
May 19, 2018
From May 14th to May 18th students of the Ostroh Academy were able to dip into the atmosphere of art, freedom of creativity and "bee colors". This week flourished under the banners of the Faculty of Humanities.
”I am very pleased that the Week of the Faculty of Humanities took place in this format, in particular with the maximum involvement of students from other faculties. It proves that students from our faculty are truly open to cooperation, dialogue and creativity. However, it would not be able without their energy and desire to do something new and unusual, regardless of studying, weather or hectic schedule. Therefore, I am convinced that this year celebration has turned out to be wonderful because it is really created with love,” shares his impressions the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Maksym Karpovets.
This year, in the framework of a large-scale event from the faculty, there were many interesting events, informative lectures and newsworthy master classes. The Week of the Faculty of Humanities was traditionally opened by mime artists, who happily met students with shagged, unidentified facial features and positive mood.
The week was conventionally divided into several blocks: freedom of expression, freedom of creativity, freedom of speech and freedom of thought.
On Monday started lectures and master classes from talented students of the faculty. A third-year student of the specialty "Culturology" Alina Ponomarenko shared the "mysteries" of the collage, telling how she turned a hobby in the field of digital collaging into a profitable business. In the evening, students from various faculties were able to take part in the contest of covers and author's songs "КАВеr" held in the Academic Park.
On Tuesday, one could attend a lecture by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Maksym Karpovets and the Head of the Tourist Information Center Olesya Goshchuk on the topic of collecting, held in an interactive conversation format. PhD in Philosophy Maksym Karpovets spoke about his own collection of comics and books, and also shared information on the difficulties during searching for English-language issues in Ukraine. The lecture ended with an awarding: the visitor who asked the lecturer the best question, received several comics from his private collection as a present by Maksym Karpovets. A large audience was gathered by the organizer of the presentation of the Ukrainian media project "Ukraїner" Sofiia Anzheliuk, who is the volunteer coordinator and the graduate of the NUOA.
There was also the Academy Fest "Trankvilion", within the framework of which from Monday to Tuesday, visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of interpretations of iconic works by well-known playwrights. Performances traditionally took place with the participation of students of the specialty Ukrainian Philology and Literary Work.
On Wednesday program was no less fascinating. Yevhen Malchyk talked about acquiring his own style, showed a series of his photos, and also explained the ideas of the videos made by the Iconic studio team and the messages they carry. There was also a lecture and a master class on "Aggressive Journalism: How to find an interesting story and do not get killed" by a Ukrainian journalist, a correspondent of the program "Hroshi" on the 1 + 1 channel Ihor Koltunov. In the evening, visitors watched the movie in the open air in the Academic Park.
Thursday was celebrated as "the most delicious" Day of the Faculty. This year, in addition to traditional dishes for lovers of fast snacks, at the fair people were able to buy vegetarian dishes and sweets during the big break near the class room #2. There was also a meeting with Oleh Chertash, named "177 Countries VS 1 Ukrainian: The History of One Captain". The lecturer shared the experience of seafaring, talked about the differences in the mentality of different peoples of the world, the "ship" traditions and taboos of the seamen. At the end of the celebration there was a final concert in the Cultural and Art Center.
“This is another small organizational experience that has been successful: there are enthusiastic smiles and sincere laughter of viewers. I feel excitement, tension and delight,” shared her impressions of the Final Concert on Facebook a student of the 2nd year of Ukrainian philology Yuliia Halapach.
“The Week of the Faculty of Humanities is always a performance. Personally, I was overjoyed with the opportunity to attend lectures by the student of our academy Yevhen Malchyk and the wonderful journalist Ihor Koltunov. As always, it was full of atmosphere and truthful. One cannot ignore the final concert. This year it has been uncensored, but, to my mind, visitors have got no negative experience. It was charmingly and funny event with a huge amount of different roles on the stage. It was like a weekly play with all its abstractions and shades,” enthusiastically comments on the event a student of Philosophy and Religious Studies Tetiana Smyk.
