On April 25, a meeting between the representatives of the Institute of International Education and the Fulbright Program, Marta Kolomyiets and Anna Pasenko respectively, and students, as well as lecturers, of the university occurred at the National University of Ostroh Academy.
The guests familiarized the audience with the opportunities of the Program and discussed the modalities of participation in competitions to get the Fulbright scholarships for education and research, as well as internships, at US universities.
"Except for fluency in English, everyone who decided to take part in the Program should clearly know the aim of his or her stay and represent the project of research, which is supposed to be topical and interesting. Those lucky enough to become the participants of the Program are Ukraine’s cultural ambassadors in the USA. It is a very important and useful experience," noticed Marta Kolomyiets.
There are four lecturers and students of the National University of Ostroh Academy among the graduates of the program, who studied and worked in different disciplines: political science, psychology, and education. Olha Korinets, who is a graduate of Ostroh Academy and a participant of the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program, is about to finish her Ukrainian teaching internship at the University of Kansas, the USA.
"Academic exchange programs, such as the Fulbright Graduate Student Program and the Fulbright Scholar Program, not only give a chance for Ukrainian students and lecturers to study at the US universities or conduct research but also improve their sociocultural and linguistic competencies. Moreover, the participants of the programs have also an opportunity to represent Ukraine, their native university, and their culture abroad," shared her impressions Kateryna Simak, Lecturer of the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages of NUOA.
