Vasyl Hrytsak: ‘We Will Do Our Utmost to Preserve the Territorial Integrity of Ukraine’
October 07, 2017
On October 6, one of the most legendary and prestigious universities of Ukraine, Ostroh Academy, was visited by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), general Vasyl Hrytsak. Despite being very busy, Mr Hrytsak eagerly agreed to hold a meeting with the students and faculty of the university within the framework of international project Ostroh Forum 2017, which is aimed at holding public discussions of crucial social, cultural, economic and political problems of Ukraine.
The students gave the Head of SSU a warm welcome. The issues being discussed, such as national security, the future of Ukraine, concern everyone. Mr Hrytsak was answering the questions illustrating the responses with the stories of his experience as a combat general. Vasyl Hrytsak emphasized that the prime objective of us all is maintenance of integrity of Ukraine.
‘The war for Ukraine has been dragging on for four years now. It is bloody and violent and has no borders. Today, over 36,000 terrorists and Russian soldiers keep rampaging in East Ukraine. Because of aggressor’s morbid ambitions we pay the ultimate price — the lives of thousands of Ukrainians. The main instruments of the Kremlin are artificial triggering of ethnic and religious strives, paid protests, surges of sabotages and acts of terrorism,’
Meetings with students has already become the good tradition for Mr Hrytsak. Being the Head of SSU he has already visited universities in different cities of Ukraine such as Lviv, Odesa, Kyiv, Kharkiv.
Yesterday, at the meeting with Ostroh Academy students he highlighted that active, educated young people who care about their country are the driving force capable of making (and already making) changes for better; the force that will shape the future of our state.
Apart from that Vasyl Hrytsak invited the students to join the ranks of SSU agencies. It is to be remembered that this year it is the first time Ostroh Academy has national security students. According to Mr Hrytsak, having graduated, these students will be able to work for SSU.
At the end of the meeting the Rector of the National University of Ostroh Academy Ihor Pasichnyk awarded the Head of SSU the highest decoration of Ostroh Academy — silver medal Prince Vasyl-Kostiantyn of Ostroh.
