The President of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Republic of Poland visited Ostroh Academy

The students of the National University of Ostroh Academy had the opportunity to attend a lecture by an honourable guest from Poland, Prof. Andrzej Rzepliński.
A great number of students have come to adopt practices of the experienced legal specialist.
Traditionally, the lecture consisted of Prof. Rzepliński’s monologue and answering the students’ question afterwards.
The lector delivered his speech in Polish without translation. The Rector of the university Dr. Pasichnyk highlights that level of Polish of Ostroh Academy students is sufficient for listening to the lecture in the original:
«It is a great honour for us to welcome our dear guest at Ostroh Academy. This outstanding person has achieved great success in his career. Every student should follow Prof. Rzepliński’s example and be glad about the possibility to listen to his lectures. I hope, it is not the last visit of our honourable guest to Ostroh and that we will continue adopting experience of our colleagues from abroad».
General information: Andrzej Rzepliński was born in 1949 in Ciechanów. Graduated from Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw in 1971. In 1978 he obtained PhD in Forensic science, in 2000 he earned the title of Professor. Prof. Rzepliński worked as the director of Institute of Social Prophylactics and Rehabilitation. Later on as the Dean of Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Resocialisation of the University of Warsaw.
In 1980s Andrzej Rzepliński was a member of Solidarity and Centre for Community Initiatives «Legislative Solidarity». He has published plenty of his scientific works. He is also a member International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights. Prof. Rzepliński was the UN, Council of Europe and OSCE expert. He specialises in field of criminology, criminal justice and human rights. As a parliamentary expert he was involved in developing the Bill on the Institute of National Remembrance.
From 1996 to 2001 Andrzej Rzepliński was a member of Council and since 2004 a member of the Labour Freedom Monitoring Centre. In 2005 he became Ombudsman Candidate upon the recommendation of Polish political party Civic Platform.
On 18 December 2007 he was elected a judge of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal. Prof. Rzepliński has been its president since 2010.
He has two daughters with lawyer Irena Rzeplińska, whom he married in 1971

- The Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1997).
- Commander’s Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (Lithuania, 2013).
- The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for distinguished service to the Catholic church (2015).
- Kisiel Award for defence of democratic state of law (2015).
- Honorary degree of the University of Osnabrück, Germany (2016)
