November 09, 2015
The Day of the Ukrainian Written Language and Literature is celebrated every year in November, 9. According to the Orthodox calendar this is the day of commemoration of Saint Nestor the Chronicler.
This year there was a series of traditional events in Ostroh Academy. In particular, in the students’ and teachers’ church of Saint Fedor Ostrozkyi priest Vasyl Zhukovskyi served prayer of memory of Nestor the Chronicler. Ostroh Academy actively took part in the fifteenth radiodictation of the national unity. Before writing students recited poems of Ukrainian poets, including Yu. Izdryk, D. Lazutkin, et al.
«I think writing a dictation is very useful because healthy nation must be literate. It’s nice that in Ostroh Academy such activities are carried out not only on the occasion of today’s celebration. In September we wrote dictation dedicated to the International Literacy Day. We have a good chance to test our knowledge and to improve them»,
In celebration of the Day of the Ukrainian Written Language and Literature theatrical group «Look!» («Dyvys’!») presented a mini-play in which actors in a comic form showed how the study of dialects happens.
Moreover, everyone had an opportunity to make a short video presentation «Compliment to Native Language». Also there was an event «Talk and Write Correctly», and student Ostradio broadcasted living voices of Ukrainian poets.
In the cultural center an evening presentation of the film «Shistdesiatnyky» took place.
