Ihor Pasichnyk, Rector of Ostroh Academy, said that Mr. Malicki had contributed quite much to the development of Polish-Ukrainian relations. «Jan Malicki’s merit is not only determined by the fact that he created the Centre for East European Studies, it is also determined by the fact that the Centre now works extremely effectively. Many lecturers of Ostroh Academy had the opportunity to enrol in PhD programmes at the University of Warsaw. Moreover, Political Science graduates of the Faculty of Political Studies and Information Management will enrol in a Master’s programme there. They will be able to get two Master degrees, one from Ostroh Academy and another from the University of Warsaw. In 2005 our university became a member of the Consortium of the University of Warsaw and Ukrainian Universities. Being one of its founders, Ostroh Academy is actively involved in the exchange of scientific experience with the participants of the Consortium. This, however, is not all of what we have achieved through our cooperation with the University of Warsaw and Jan Malicki, in particular,» he said.

Rector Pasichnyk presented Mr Malicki with the Honorary Doctor Certificate, a Doctor’s gown, a symbolic Doctor Habilitatus ring of Ostroh Academy and Ostroh Bible. Jan Malicki was congratulated on his milestone by Henryk Litwin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine, Alla Atamanenko, Dr.Sc.
