May 25, 2012
On 24 May, Ivan Kardash, Ostroh Academy patron and collector of anciently printed and rare books, donated a rare old ceremonial book titled The Acts of Apostles, printed by Moscow printing-house in 1780, to Ostroh Academy. According to the collector, the unique character of this book lies in the fact that is has many illustrations of saints, unlike the Nikon old ceremonial books with no dating and images of saints.
It is noteworthy that the majority of anciently printed and rare books of the National University of Ostroh Academy have been donated by Ivan Kardash. Moreover, last year saw the solemn opening ceremony of the Centre of Anciently Printed and Rare Books named after Ivan Kardash. During their meeting, Ihor Pasichnyk presented Ivan Kardash with a certificate confirming that starting from 20 January 2011 the collection of anciently printed and rare books of NaUOA bears his name.
