International Scientific and Practical Conference Intercultural Communication: Language-Culture-Personality In Ostroh Academy

On 20 April the third International Scientific and Practical Conference Intercultural Communication: Language-Culture-Personality took place in Ostroh Academy National University and gathered in the representatives of 36 higher educational establishments. Vice-consul of Polish Republic Marta Pavlik was the honourable guest of the event.

On the plenary session of the conference the scientists from Ukraine, Poland, Canada, and the United States of America took the floor, among them were Anatoliy Khudoliy, Bohdan Shunevych, Valerii Polkovsky and Donald Finny.

The lectures of this year’s conference concerned rhetoric and US presidents’ foreign policy, problems of teaching foreign languages in North America, teaching methods of foreign languages in general, etc. Some were devoted to Ukraine in the context of intercultural communication in the world.

At the end of plenary session the Head of Publishing House Nova Knyha Olena Berezova presented the improved Ukrainian-English Dictionary, worked out by many outstanding scientists in three years.

“The world is changing, so do social values, and that is why the necessity in new knowledge emerges. We hope that the conference will contribute to the democratization of public relations and formation of favourable conditions for development of intercultural communication”, admitted the Dean of the College of Romance and Germanic Languages Svitlana Novoseletska.
