Ukrainian Writers’ Reunion In Ostroh Academy
November 06, 2008
On 6 November Ostroh Academy National University hosted the All-Ukrainian holiday of spirituality and culture in Rivne region dedicated to the Days of the Ukrainian Written Language Ukrainian Sacred Books: Peresopnytsia Gospels and Ostroh Bible initiated by Rivne Organization of the National Writers Association of Ukraine, Ostroh Academy National University and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Both Peresopnytsia Gospels and Ostroh Bible are the sources of the enlightenment of Ukrainian Nation. Unfortunately, not all Ukrainians have realized the importance of these books in the development of Ukrainian Spirit. That is why writers from all over Ukraine arrived to Ostroh to commemorate these sacred primary sources of Ukrainian Nation. Ostroh and Ostroh Academy were not accidentally chosen for the opening of the holiday since Volyn was the place where Ukrainian spiritual and cultural Renaissance of the late 16th century took place.
At the solemn opening in the Student and Teachers Church the Head of Rivne National Writers Association Nadia Rebchenko, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Writers
Organization Lesia Stepovychka, Head of Lviv Writers Organization Maria Yakubovska and Head of Ternopil Writers Organization Bohdan Bastiuk delivered their greetings speeches. Ivano-Frankivsk Writers Organization also sent their greetings.
The All-Ukrainian holiday of spirituality and culture is a significant event in the life of Rivne region which gathered the representatives of Rivne Region State Administration. It lasted for three days and included scientific readings about Peresopnytsia Gospels and Ostroh Bible and a trip to Peresopnytsia.
The spiritual atmosphere of this holiday brings everyone involved to that common source of Ukrainian Nation which makes the existence of the Nation possible.
