Leonid Kuchma Visited Ostroh Academy

On 25 September 2008 the ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma accompanied by the Head of Rivne Region Council Oleksandr Danylchuk, ex-head of Rivne Region State Administration Mykola Soroka, and the protector of Ostroh Academy Roman Vasylyshyn visited Ostroh Academy National University.
During the meeting, he awarded the students with the scholarships of the President Fund Ukraine for achievements and for active participation in the life of the University. Among them werw Olha Kaleniuk and Iryna Muzychuk, the students of the College of Political Studies and Information Management, Iryna Fedorchuk, the student of the College of Law, Kyrylo Kurhanskyi, the student of the College of Economics, and Kateryna Kozachuk, the student of the College of Humanities. “I thank the Rector of Ostroh Academy and all the professors for bringing up the highly educated young generation of Ukraine. I am confident that the elite of science, politics and technology that our state lacks nowadays is formed here,” Mr. Kuchma stated.
During the meeting students had a chance to communicate with Leonid Kuchma and to discuss his book of memoirs After Maidan.
For his significant contribution to the development of Ostroh Academy Leonid Kuchma was presented with Ostroh Bible. “Leonid Kuchma is the one who signed four decrees during his presidency providing Ostroh Academy with the status of the national university and became its protector. While Ostroh Academy exists, the name of this person will always be mentioned on every solemn occasion”, Ihor Pasichnyk assured.
