Olha Bohomolets Told About Ukrainian Icon in Ostroh Academy

Olha bohomolets presented her books Windows to Space Beyond: the  History of the Collection  and Home Icons of Central Ukraine in Ostroh Academy.

Meeting famous Ukrainian and world public figures and culture activists is the tradition of Ostroh Academy National University for years, since the university also provides cultural and spiritual development of the Ukrainian youth. The Educational and Cultural Centre in Ostroh has been famous for its icon painting school since the 16th century. That is why the topic of icon painting is very close to our University.

On 21 May, the Ostroh Academy students met Member of Parliament and singer Olha Bohomolets, MD, famous for her achievements in medicineand the  creation of the collection consisting of 5000 Ukrainian home icons. To her mind, the Ukrainian icon, being very important part of our history and a specific way of national self-identification, should be returned to the Ukrainian families. In her book  Olha reflected all icons from her collection so that the reader could feel that specific spirit the icons brought to Ukrainian families. The pictures are accompanied by apt comments.

In general, the atmosphere of the meeting was sincere and heartfelt. Olha Bohomolets Scientific Library of Ostroh Academy with her books. Nevertheless, the cooperation of the university with her contiues and the exhibition of icons from her collection is planned in Ostroh Academy.
