On 19 May, The Embroidered Record of Ostroh Academy action took place in Ostroh Academy National University as a part of the celebration of the week of the College of Economics.
This day students came to the Academy in embroidered shirts with unique patterns. Each of the patterns reflected the peculiarity of colours range, means of expression typical of a particular region of Ukraine which have been developed throughout centuries, in particular, Polissia, Hutsulschyna, Podillia and Slobozhanschyna. There were also some ethnic costumes decorated with glass beads. Each of the ornaments is special in its own way, for example, even regular rhythm of one laconic motif is characteristic of Polissia ornament, the co-existence of leaf and geometrical patterns is typical of Slobozhanschyna, Podillia ornament is represented by complex combinations of motifs, daintiness and perfection.
Such activities are necessary for youth, since they restore traditions, culture, enhance national spirit of young generation. Many students wore embroidered shirts of their grandparents, these are family relics passed from generation to generation as an experience,” told the participant of the activity, NUOA student Alla Dubrovyk.
Ostroh Academy, being the centre of spirituality and national culture, has organized such events many times. Thanks to preservation and valuation of customs and traditions of our nation the students and teachers of Ostroh Academy National University believe they can raise real patriots of their state.
