Victims of Holodomor Commemorated In Ostroh Academy
November 16, 2008
Ostroh Academy National University organized student scientific readings commemorating the victims of genocide against Ukrainian nation, Holodomor of 1932-1933.
Holodomor will always remain as an extremely tragic page of our history. Though it also taught us a lesson. For many years those events had been kept in secret by the Soviet historiography, but nowadays all Ukrainians have the right to know the truth and everyone’s duty is to hand it down to our citizens. Ostroh Academy students clearly realize their mission and cannot remain indifferent to the national history.
The participants of the readings often cited the book Your Dead Chose Me by James Mace, a foreigner who was among the first to speak about this tragedy.
There are expectations that these readings will become traditional in Ostroh Academy, since the national memory should always remain in the nation’s mind.
