Train Changed Track
December 04, 2008
Rector of Ostroh Academy National University, professor Igor Pasichnyk on behalf of the faculty and students of the University has recently addressed the Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine Iosyp Vinskyi with the request to resume the railway communication Kyiv-Warsaw via Rivne.
This request was predetermined by the fact that professors from different continents of the world work at Ostroh Academy National University, and, as a rule, first arrive to Rivne and then to Ostroh. Besides, Ostroh Academy National University is daily visited by tourists. “Due to the change in the railway communication the foreign visitors are compelled to acquaint themselves with Ukraine at the station Sarny, where the station itself and the nearby territory do not create even the smallest positive impression, regardless even big inconveniences connected with reaching Rivne”, the letter said.
In response to the letter Ostroh Academy National University received letters from Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) and Lvivzaliznytsia (Lviv Railways). They said that the communication Korosten-Shepetivka-Zdolbuniv-Iagodyn was changed and the stop in Rivne was resumed in both directions in the new train schedule of the international communication Kyiv-Warsaw in 2008-2009. The change came into effect on 14 December 2008.
The Rector and the faculty of Ostroh Academy National University thank the Minister of Transport and Communications Iosyp Vinskyi very much for the constructive solution of the problem.
