Ostroh Academy Joined the All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity
October 25, 2024
On October 25, the united academic community of The National University of Ostroh Academy, including students and lecturers, participated in writing the Radio Dictation of National Unity-2024.
Also, some students of the "Ukrainian Language and Literature" and "Journalism and Cross-Media" EPPs of the Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University took part in writing the dictation; they are currently studying at the Ostroh Academy on exchange.
A lecturer of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Literature and moderator of the event, Iryna Rabchuk, made an opening speech:
«Today, we, as a part of the academic community, are about to embark on a significant journey. We are joining the writing of the twenty-fifth radio dictation. This tradition symbolises the honour and respect we hold for the Ukrainian language. This language, a symbol of unity, indomitability, and the dignity of a great nation, is at the heart of our event.»
After that, Ruslana Kalamazh, Vice-Rector for Education, Doctor of Science (Psychology), Full professor, congratulated the academic community and emphasised the fact that Ostroh Academy traditionally has participated in radio dictation since 2010 and has always paid great attention to the Ukrainian Writing and Language Day.
«Participation in radio dictation is not only about literacy and the ability to write correctly but also about the national identity, unity and cohesion of all Ukrainians currently in Ukraine and abroad. For me, joining this event also means observance of human rights, particularly the right to speak freely and calmly in one's native Ukrainian language, which is no less important for our victory. Good luck with your dictation»,
Head of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Literature of the NaUOA, Cand. Sc. (Philology), Associate Professor Vitaliy Maksymchuk noted:
«Today, the Ukrainian people, scattered all over the world, from large to small, are once again united around their most cherished treasure – language; a treasure to be guarded like the apple of an eye; a treasure, the meaning of which Ukrainians, unfortunately, have not yet realised. We need to finally throw off the shackles of slavery, return to the bosom of our parents and get rid of the inferiority complex. National consciousness and language stability must be awakened among Ukrainians. Everyone should realise that everything in moscow is killing us and those at the front. Ukrainian Writing and Language Day is another reason to clear your space of everything hostile that destroys the Ukrainian nation and to remember the language of your parents. Let every written word make you stronger and more confident in your abilities. Only by having strong language stability, getting rid of slave consciousness and inferiority complex, and knowing our own history will we be able to defeat the moscow occupiers forever. Because no one and nothing will stop an idea whose time has come; the time of the Ukrainian sun, which is already rising and bringing our victory closer.»
Sofiia Loziuk, a student in the first year of the second (master's) level of higher education of the EPP "Ukrainian Philology: Literary and Linguistic Studies" and "Psychology", shared her impressions of writing the dictation:
«The radio dictation of national unity is a wonderful flash mob so that all Ukrainians unite for one cause, distract themselves from unnecessary thoughts and immerse themselves in one relevant, poignant and unique text for everyone every year. We must remember that this flash mob does not demonstrate who knows the spelling rules and who does not; it demonstrates the integrity of Ukrainians, encourages us to immerse ourselves in a single process, and talk and reflect after writing on a common topic.»
After writing a dictation, anyone who wants to can send it for checking. The text of the all-Ukrainian dictation will be published on the website of "Ukrainian Radio" and Suspilne Kultura on October 28 at 11:00 a.m. The paper letter must be sent to the following address: Kyiv, Khreshchatyk St., 26, 01001. The date on the stamp must be by October 27. You can send your work online to rd@suspilne.media by 11:00 on October 28. Emails will not be accepted after the dictation is published.
This year, the author of the text is the Ukrainian writer and essayist Oksana Zabuzhko. Pavlo Vyshebaba, a writer, musician, eco-activist, and currently military man, read the radio dictation.
