UC Berkeley School of Law Full Professor Steven Rosenbaum Delivered a Lecture at Ostroh Academy

Annually in December, the world community celebrates important human rights dates, including the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) and the International Human Rights Day (December 10).

On this occasion and within the framework of the cooperation between the Pro Bono Legal Clinic of the National University of Ostroh Academy and the Berkeley School of Law of the University of California (USA), the webinar "Legal Clinics: "Correcting mistakes" with human rights" was conducted on December 12.

The speaker was Steven Rosenbaum, Full Professor at the Berkeley School of Law, University of California (USA), and Senior Research Officer at Udayana University, Indonesia.

Director of the I. Malynovskyi Institute of Law, Candidate of Science (Law), Associate Professor Oleh Herasymchuk moderated the meeting.

'Steven Rosenbaum has many years of experience in the field of teaching, legal clinical and human rights activities in many countries around the globe, and now, together with his colleagues, he is working on the creation of a specialised legal clinic on the rights of people with special needs at Udayana University of Indonesia.'

Oleh Herasymchuk noted.

During the meeting, representatives of legal clinics, as well as the broader academic legal community, gained helpful information about the role of legal clinics in strengthening human rights, the establishment of a legal clinic for the protection of the rights of people with special needs in Indonesia, and the challenges faced by legal clinics in countries where innovations of legal education have not been fully implemented.

About Steven Rosenbaum:

Steven A. Rosenbaum, MPP, JD, the Frank C. Newman Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he has taught courses in social justice and professional skills, and is an Othering & Belonging Institute 

Visiting Researcher Scholar at UC Berkeley.

He has conducted courses on human rights and justice for people with special needs at Stanford Law School and various clinical and legal courses and seminars for students in a diverse range of countries, including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Myanmar, Qatar, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago and Turkey. His professional contributions include articles and chapters in textbooks and monographs on special education, clinical legal education, Human Rights, and public advocacy.'
