May 09, 2024
On Europe Day, on May 9, the Born from the Flame project started working in the Art Cluster of the National University of Ostroh Academy.
The organisers are the Art Cluster of the NaUOA, the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity and BF "KOLO".
The exhibition tells about the struggle for freedom in the Russia-Ukraine War. It introduces its heroes - soldiers, medics and volunteers bringing our victory closer.
Mykola Bendiuk, Head of the Art Cluster of Ostroh Academy, moderated the event.
Professor Ruslana Kalamazh, Doctor of Science (Psychology), Vice-Rector for Educational Work, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech:
"The most sincere congratulations to our guests - the exhibition organisers. Thank you very much for visiting us today. On May 9, we celebrate Europe Day. We have such a wonderful, inspiring exhibition, which allows us to form and understand who we are, what we are, where we are coming from, where we want to go, and what our values are. Thank you for the connotations you put into the exhibition. At Ostroh Academy, we secure a vital role in the national-patriotic education of students, which is evidenced by the active volunteering carried out by lecturers and students. We are glad the exhibition will work at our university and inspire us to teach and learn."
The project was created to raise funds for the equipment of the new Admission Department of the National Military and Medical Clinical Center GVKG in Kyiv.
In the NaUOA, the organisers continued to collect funds, this time for the needs of evacuation wagons for mobile evacuation of the wounded.
"We were born from the flame" is the anthem of the Ukrainian nationalists "We were born". This project has many meanings. You and I live at a time when both you and we are the veterans of all revolutions who fought against the russians to protect Ukraine,"
At the exhibition, people got to know the stories. They saw things of famous defenders: Hero of Ukraine, pilot Vadym Voroshilov "Karaya", Davyd Kasatkin "Khimik", Yuliia Paievska "Taira", Tata Kepler, Leonid Ostaltsev.
The exposition also presents the manuscript of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (2021–2024), Valerii Zaluzhnyi, honorary medals and awards of Ukrainian soldiers, projectile fragments, drawings and other artefacts.
"First of all, I would like to thank everyone who gathered here, because it is really very important. Each story is based on our personal stories, not fiction. Suppose we do not study history on the examples of our contemporaries. In that case, it will be imposed on us and alien to us,"
The photos of the heroes of the exhibition are the works of photographer Mina Sorvino. They were included in the art book of the same name.
In addition, Serhii "Foma" Fomenko, the frontman of the "Mandry" band, provided a musical greeting.
Iryna Soloshenko, co-organiser of the project, Head of the "Mobile Evacuation" project of the BF "KOLO" and the projects of the National Military Medical Clinical Center "Main Military Clinical Hospital" told more about the project at the author's tour.
"The war taught me to stop being afraid of everything. It would help if you stopped being afraid to express your thoughts and stop being afraid to reach for something big. You have to do this because you may be unable to do it tomorrow. That's what today is for."
She spoke about each Hero presented at the exhibition, their personal stories and their contribution to the approaching victory.
Ostroh became the fourth city to see the "Born from the Flame" exhibition. The exhibition will last until June 30, so we invite everyone!
