June 07, 2018

The lecturers of the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Languages of the National University of Ostroh Academy from May 14 to 25 participated in the program of international professional exchange organized by the international department “CHANCE International” of the organization CHANCE BJS gGmbH with the assistance of the Stiftung DRJA Foundation. The German partners offered a “Go-non-formal!” program of professional development for lecturers, which included a series of training sessions aimed at developing competences for non-formal learning and implementing these approaches in the context of both formal education and individual youth exchanges.

Over the course of 12 days the Ukrainian team together with participants from Germany and Russia became acquainted with various aspects of formal and informal education, discussed the peculiarities of youth exchanges, their components and the conditions necessary for their implementation. In addition, special attention was paid to identifying the competencies that the participants, organizers and facilitators involved in such programs should possess.

Each day, participants participated in interesting and meaningful trainings aimed at disclosing a separate issue related to the organization and conduction of youth exchanges. Facilitators who worked on a high professional level successfully combined various forms and formats of work: small group discussions, brainstorming, six thinking hats method, creative tasks, and in every way promoted openness and the exchange of thoughts, ideas and experiences.

At the final stage of the program, a range of opportunities for the implementation of German-Ukrainian youth exchanges was outlined, funds and organizations specializing in support of various youth projects were presented. In addition, the Ukrainian team was invited to develop ideas for youth projects that could be implemented within the framework of German-Ukrainian exchanges.

Lecturers not only had the opportunity to exchange their professional experience, but also to enrich it with new methods and approaches of working with young people, to learn about the possibilities of implementing interesting youth projects in cooperation with German partners.

Despite the rich training schedule, the organizers took care of the cultural component of the program, offering interesting excursions to Berlin. So that Ukrainian participants learned a lot about the German capital and were able to feel the unique atmosphere of this magnificent city more fully.

The Ukrainian team sincerely thanks the international department of “CHANCE International”the organizers of the project, especially: Liliia Pishvanova, Anastasiia Pushkarova, volunteers Oleg Shulha and Dariia Belous. They express their special gratitude to the group leader the Head of the Department of Indo-European Languages NUOA Victoria Polishchuk, who has for a long time supported cooperation with “CHANCE International”, thus a number of students of the Faculty of Romance-Germanic languages took part in the German-Ukrainian exchange.

«In my opinion, every lecturer should always look for opportunities to improve his professional skills. Recently, I had a unique opportunity to participate in internship, which focused on non-formal learning methods. The experience gained is extremely valuable, as it will help to increase the efficiency of the educational process, as well as improve the microclimate in the groups. I would also like to point out that in addition to seminars and workshops, memories of Berlin, which struck us with its history and architecture, remain in our memory. » - shares her impressions a PhD of Pedagogical Science, Senior Lecturer of the Department of International Language Communication Svitlana Olishkevych.
