Society development discussed at Ostroh Academy

On 3-5 October, the 2nd annual International research and practical conference Society Development Management. Global Challenges and Alternatives was held at the National University of Ostroh Academy. The event was co-organised by the Institute for Global Governance Strategies with the assistance of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation’s project Civil Society Begins Today and the Viktor Matchuk Foundation. The conference aimed at identifying the ways and trends for the development of the state policy in regions and society development management with the consideration of Ukraine’s national priorities.
Conference delegates had a look at the historical and cultural architectural complex of Ostroh Academy, its Academic Library, the castle of the Princes Ostrozkyi, and had a meeting with Rector Pasichnyk.
Olha Rudenko, Dr.Sc. (Public Administration), Director of the Institute for Global Governance Strategies of the National University of Ostroh Academy, as well as foreign guests, namely Mykola Trusevych, First Vice-rector of the Modern Institute for the Humanities, guardianship board Deputy Head of the Scholarship of Moscow Mayor programme in Moldova, and Oleksandr Kuchabskyi, Professor of Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk, said words of welcome at the conference.
The following subjects were discussed during the plenary and sectional meetings: intensification of community participation in the processes of society development management, modernization of the social, political and economic management system, problems of social and liberal development management of transitive communities, strategies of nation’s spiritual and ideological revival and the development of tolerance in the society. The conference also featured the discussion club Alternative Models of Society Development Management.
«Scholars from 5 countries and different regions of Ukraine took part in the conference,» said Serhii Shturkhetskyi, Assistant Director of the Institute for Global Governance Strategies. «The following opinion shared by all the participants of the forum may be considered as the main conclusion of the conference: modern challenges, confronted by the society, require joint international scientific efforts.»
Additionally, a cooperation agreement in the areas of education and research was signed during the conference between the National University of Ostroh Academy and Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk. Conference reports will be published in collected scientific papers of the Institute for Global Governing Strategies.
