2013 Viennese Ball held in Ostroh Academy
February 02, 2013
As usual, this year’s Viennese Ball was organised by the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages. It was a celebration of daintiness, beauty and grace, a celebration for real admirers of the beautiful.
Everybody had a welcome opportunity to try fancy clothes on, waltz to fast rhythms and dive into the world of aristocracy. According to the organisers of the ball, there is even a competition among students.
"Students buy up the tickets, and start thorough preparations afterwards. A few weeks before the ball Vasyl Honcharuk had been giving waltz master classes. Interestingly, Ostroh Academy graduates also attend the ball," says Kateryna Simak, an organizer of the ball.
According to Dmytro Panchuk, Lecturer of the Department of the English Language and Literature, the tradition of Viannese Balls in Ukraine was established by Ostroh Academy. "The first Viennese Ball was held in Ostroh Academy in 2006. I think this tradition will continue, because it is an integral part of the week of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages celebration," he said.
Students shared their impressions as well:
Taras Reiterovych, a student of the Faculty of Economics
"All our expectations about this wonderful evening have been met. I am in a lovely mood: romantic, dreamy..."
Nataliia Myronchuk, a student of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages
"The ball is absolutely spectacular.I would describe myself as feelingelegant and aristocratic."
