Ostroh Academy visited by the Sokolyk family

On 14 August, Yaroslav, Oksana and Vsevolod Sokolyk visited the National University of Ostroh Academy.
Ukrainians by origin, the Sokolyk family live in Canada. They have maintained sincere and friendly relationship with Ostroh Academy for many years. For many years in succession, contests among intellectual youth dedicated to the creative work of Ulas Samchuk have been held on their initiative and with the support of the International Charity Foundation Revival of Ostroh Academy.
In addition, trilogy Volyn and Ulas Samchuk's memoirs and impressions in two volumes were published by Ostroh Academy Publishing Centre to commemorate the centennial of his birthday. Collected works Mariia, Vidnaidenyi Rai (The Paradise Found) and Choho Ne Hoit Ohon (What Fire Does Not Heal) were published to commemorate his 105th birth anniversary. The fourth volume of Ulas Samchuk's works is planned for publishing.
The guests and Ostroh Academy administration discussed the idea of the next all-Ukrainian contest National Character in Ulas Samchuk's Literary Heritage (Ethno-Philological, Phychological, Historical, Political and Ethnolinguistic Aspects) to be held in the academic year 2012/2013.
The guests received the encyclopedic book Ostroh Academy of the 16th-17th Centuries as a present from Rector Ihor Pasichnyk. The Sokolyk family also received copies of the novel Mariia by Ulas Samchuk translated into English by Doctor Roma Franko.
