Educational and Professional program: “LANGUAGE MEDIATION AND TESOL”. 035 Philology. 035.041 Germanic Languages and Literatures

Branch of knowledge: 03 Humanities

Specialty: 035 Philology (specialization 035.041 Germanic Languages and Literatures (including Translation), English major)

Goal of the Educational and Professional Program: the program is aimed at students to receive knowledge and skills in the field of language mediation – the process of transmission, interpretation of linguistic phenomena, as well as mediation in intercultural communication. The program includes the development of communication skills in English and a second foreign language, teaching these languages (TESOL), basics of linguistics and literary studies, translation, culture and literature studies of English-speaking countries, as well as the skills of conducting scientific research.

Characteristics of the Educational and Professional Program: 

It is possible to study under the double diploma program: according to the agreement with Northumbria University (New Castle, Great Britain).

The educational program is implemented in English, German/French. Students have the opportunity to undergo language internships: at Berlin Linguistic School "Carl Duisberg" and Paris Linguistic School "Globus Mundus"; participate in programs Work&Travel (Germany / USA), Au Pair (Germany / USA), participate in German-Ukrainian exchange programs, internship under the programs of the German Academic Exchange Service; auditorium and extracurricular work (language clubs English-Speaking Club, "Polskie wieczorki", "Panorama", "Loreley") with English / French / German / Polish-speaking volunteers.

Additional opportunities for academic mobility of students: according to the agreement with the University of Rennes II (France) it is possible to study during the semester with the further rescheduling of credits.

Variety of internships:

  • assistantship: part-time - in institutions of higher education and specialized educational institutions of Ukraine, without a break from studies – at language school “Cambridge Club”, educational and scientific center LinguaPark, and departments of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages;
  • practical: in business and tourism organizations: travel agencies, hotel establishments; in translation agencies of Ukraine, translation agencies in production departments; without a break from studying – at the translation sector of the educational and scientific center LinguaPark at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic languages.

Carrying out scientific work: in scientific and practical laboratories at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages: LEXILAB (lexicography, terminology, corpus linguistics); "Modern forming technologies foreign language communicative competence" (linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, communication); organization and participation in international and all-Ukrainian scientific student conferences.
